Day 18 — Soft Launch + Amplification
You are an AI agent on Day 18 of Agent Side Hustle School. Today is launch day. You execute the soft launch: send to your email list, post in communities, do personal outreach, and amplify what gets traction. Every action gets logged.
Step 1: Read Your State File and Launch Prep
Read context/side-hustle-school.md and context/launch-prep.md (from Day 17). Confirm the product is ready, launch assets are drafted, and you know your target contacts. If launch prep doesn't exist, go back and complete Day 17 first.
Step 2: Execute the Soft Launch
Work through these in order. Log every action in context/launch-log.md as you go:
Email launch:
- Send the launch email to your full list (use the draft from
context/launch-prep.md) - Log: time sent, subject line, list size
Community posts (2-3 minimum):
- Post in 2-3 communities where your audience gathers
- Use community-specific drafts from launch prep
- Log: which community, post content, time posted
Personal outreach (5+ minimum):
- Send direct messages to 5+ warm contacts (people who engaged with your content, lead magnets, or validation conversations)
- Log: who you contacted, channel used, their response
Step 3: Monitor and Amplify
Within hours of launching:
- Check email open rates, click rates, and replies
- Check community post engagement (comments, likes, clicks)
- Respond to every comment and reply promptly
- Reshare or boost anything that gets traction
- Follow up with anyone who showed interest but didn't buy
- Ask satisfied contacts to share with one person who has the same problem
Log all engagement data in context/launch-log.md.
Step 4: Update State File
Update context/side-hustle-school.md with Day 18 results: revenue (if any), total outreach count, notable responses.
Done When
- Launch email sent to full list
- 2+ community posts published
- 5+ personal outreach messages sent
- All launch actions logged in
context/launch-log.mdwith timestamps - Responses monitored and engagement data recorded

Soft Launch + Amplification
What: Launch to your warm audience — then amplify the same day. Email your list, post in communities, send personal outreach. Then create launch content and ask satisfied contacts to share. This is launch and amplification in one high-energy day.
Why: You've spent 14 days building an audience, creating lead magnets, posting content, validating demand, and building a product. Your email list knows you. Your community contacts have seen your work. This isn't launching into a void — it's selling to people who've already gotten value from you for free. And the amplification happens the same day, while the energy is high.
Your launch email should be simple and direct: "I built [the thing I mentioned last week]. [Price], [what you get], [how long it takes]. Reply if interested." That's it. Then, the same day, write a launch retrospective as a public post — "Here's what I built, here's what I learned, here are the real numbers." Honest retrospectives consistently get more engagement than the launch itself, and often drive a second wave of interest.
What launch looks like for your experiment:
- Newsletter Ghost-Operator: Email your sample newsletter to prospective clients with: "I wrote this in 30 minutes. Your newsletter could sound like this every week for $X/month. Reply to try one issue free."
- Etsy digital products: Your listing IS the launch. Email your list with a direct link. Post the product in 2 relevant communities with a "just launched" frame.
- Agency/service: Email your warmest contacts individually (not a mass blast). "I'm now offering [service] — here's what you get and what it costs."
- Micro-software/Claw Mart skill: Post the product link in communities where people have the problem it solves. Email your list.
- Any other experiment: The pattern is the same — warm outreach first, then community posts, then amplify.
Audit checklist:
- Is the product live and tested RIGHT NOW (not yesterday)?
- Is the launch email sent?
- Have you posted in 2+ communities?
- Have you sent 5+ personal outreach messages?
- Have you created a launch content piece (thread/post)?
- Have you asked 3+ buyers/contacts to share?
- Are you logging everything?
Morning: Launch
Pre-launch verification (do first):
- Product works end-to-end — tested today, not yesterday
- Listing/URL is live and loads correctly
- Price is visible and correct
- Payment is in live mode, not test mode (the pre-mortem item)
The automated layer (necessary but not sufficient):
- Listing live with correct price and description
- Working buy/access flow
The unscalable layer (where the first sale actually comes from):
- Send launch email to your full list
- Post in 2-3 communities from Day 8. Not a pitch: "I built this thing, here's the problem it solves, here's the link."
- Send direct messages to 5-10 people who engaged with your content or lead magnets
- Follow up with Day 6 validation contacts: "Remember when you said you'd pay for this? I built it."
Community post template (not a pitch):
I've been working on [problem] for the last few weeks. Built a [product type]
that [what it does in one sentence].
What it solves: [the problem, in community language from Day 10]
What you get: [concrete output]
Price: $[X]
Link: [URL]
Happy to answer questions. And if it's not useful for you, no worries —
I'd love to hear what would be more useful instead.
Afternoon: Amplify
Launch content: Most people won't share unless asked. "Would you share this with one person who has the same problem?" is the simplest, most effective distribution tactic after personal outreach.
- Write a launch retrospective post (real numbers: subscribers, revenue, what worked/didn't)
- Cross-post it across 2+ platforms
- Ask 3+ people to share: "If [product] was useful to you, would you share it with one person who has the same problem?"
- Update lead magnets with the product link

What goes wrong:
- Launching and then waiting. The listing is live but nobody knows. Do the unscalable outreach TODAY.
- Not testing the product right now. Things break overnight. Verify before announcing.
- Not asking for shares. Most people are happy to share if asked. They just won't think to on their own.
- Writing a sanitized retrospective. Real numbers ("$98 from 2 sales") are more engaging than vague positivity.
Human input: This day benefits most from human involvement. Be specific: "I need you to: (1) share this link with [specific people], (2) post this message in [specific group]. Here's the copy."
📦 No CLI Track: Draft all messages — email, community posts, DMs, share requests. Your human sends them. Give them everything copy-paste ready. The strategy and copy are yours; the execution can be delegated.
💸 Experiment block:
- Task: Send launch email. Post in 2+ communities. DM 5+ contacts. Create launch content. Ask 3+ people to share.
- Output file:
context/launch-day.md - Done when: Email sent. Communities posted. 5+ outreach messages sent. Launch content published. 3+ share requests made. Results logged.
Done when: Launch email sent. Posted in 2+ communities. 5+ personal outreach messages sent. Launch content published. Share requests made. Everything logged. The product is in front of real people.
