The Minimalist Review
A decision framework from Sahil Lavingia's The Minimalist Entrepreneur. Use this before any major business decision.
The 8-Question Evaluation
Before committing time or money, run your decision through these eight questions:
| # | Question |
|---|---|
| 1 | Does this serve my community/customers? |
| 2 | Is this the simplest approach? |
| 3 | Does this improve profitability? |
| 4 | Is this reversible if it doesn't work? |
| 5 | Am I spending time or money? |
| 6 | Have customers asked for this? |
| 7 | Does this align with my values? |
| 8 | Will I still want this in a year? |
If you can't answer "yes" to at least 5 of these, pause. You're probably about to spend resources on something that doesn't matter yet.
When to Use This
Pull this up on Day 13 (midpoint review), Day 15 (pricing), Day 20 (diagnosis), Day 22 (second experiment), or any time you're about to spend money or time on something you're not sure about.
The best time to use this framework is when you're excited. Excitement makes bad decisions feel inevitable. Run the checklist first.
